1.

The dowdy patching of the grass and snow

befoul the mantle mighty winter wore

as conqueror, when comfort was his foe,

ere daylit darts his frozen shield could thaw.

So now that warmth dispels our arctic chill,

become my snowdrop, and my daffodil.

2.

For spring has opened by a chink her door

to look with melting love, (for she has won,)

upon this snowman, turned a blackamoor,

who wilts impassively beneath the sun.

So now that warmth dispels our arctic chill,

become my snowdrop, and my daffodil.

3.

The daggered ice, till now obsidian,

has lost its frosted brittleness and lo!

in tinkling trickles from the rooftop runs,

as if it's weeping at his overthrow.

So now that warmth dispels our arctic chill,

become my snowdrop, and my daffodil:

become my snowdrop, and my daffodil:

become my snowdrop, and my daffodil.......
