1.

I linger in the chill autumnal frost

twixt a love requited, and a love forgotten,

where every kiss recalled must pay the cost

in elastic sorrow that was then begotten.

2.

Diaphanous within my liquid soul,

your reflection tinged my personality;

compressed like leaves in the forest mould,

our hearts cohered into a unity.

3.

How wonderful to be deciduous!

I would shed my leaves in time to hibernate,

and dream amid the storms tempestuous

of the vernal breeze which love invigorates.
