1.

Daughter of Wotan, so fair and so slim,

visioned by tales in the whispered wind,

raised in the blight of the bombers' blows,

meeting as children of our fathers' foes.

2.

Dove of peace from the forests of war,

fleeing the blaze for an unknown shore:

coming to rest on a city's bough,

waiting for all that the stars allow.

3.

Time to emerge from the shadow of covers,

now we have tasted the moonlight of lovers.

Blend to me soulfully, fervent, ideally,

soothing the waters that have tumbled freely.

4.

Rider of bluebells on the poet's pages,

drink to our love in the wine of ages.

Flatten the fences of forgotten purpose:

fight for what's living before others usurp us.

5.

I who have loved you am still the stranger,

crouched in the gloom of rebuttal's danger.

You whose eyes are so clear and trusting,

could save my heart from this scrap-heap rusting.

6.

Daughter of Wotan, so fair and so slim,

visioned by tales in the whispered wind.

Lucky the man who'll someday master

Silesian girl in Bavarian pasture.
