Almost like an actor who's been offered a part to perform

of enormous stature, (like a Shakespearean king,)

I bring some natural talent to the stage - authority,

a florid regal mien, a tradition of dominance.

Nominated already, I yet dread

the spreading ripples of dissension, which indicate

a belated drive to block my ascent to office -

rebuffed and passed over with loss of face.

I'll chase my rising star however far

it takes me - shaking my skeletal framework to bits,

but I'll fit the imposed image and the expectations -

pleasurably blooming with excitement in novel performance.

May those who would oppose me clamber down -

my head is ready to support this crown.
